Bonus Optional Assignment

This assignment is due at the beginning of class on Monday Sept. 11.  You should simply come up to the front of the room and turn it in, there won't be any announcement in class.

1.   Imagine dropping a bowling ball and a ping pong ball from the tallest building on campus.  If gravity were the only force acting on both objects, would the bowling ball arrive at the ground  BEFORE, at the SAME time, or AFTER the ping pong ball.

2.   Explain (in words or with a sketch) how Galileo proved that air has weight.

3.   How much did the steel bar (that was passed around in class) weigh?

4.  You hopefully were able to feel how heavy and dense mercury is, it has a density of density of 13.6 g/cm3.  Two elements have a density of 22.6 g/cm3, what are they?
