What grade do I need on the final exam to raise my grade?
Substitute your current grade (the average with the lowest quiz
grade dropped on your grade summary sheet) into the equation
below. Your current grade is 60% of your overall grade, the final
will be worth 40% of your overall grade. For
the desired grade substitute 90% for an A, 80% for a B, 70% for a C, or
60% for a D.
Here's an example. What would a student with a current grade of
78% (C+) have to score on the final to raise their grade to a B?
The student would need to score 83% on the final to raise their overall
average from 78% (C) to 80% (B).
What
grade do I need on the final exam to keep the grade I already have?
Substitute your current grade into the equation below.
Your current grade will count as 80% of your overall grade.
For the desired grade substitute in 90%, 80%, 70% or 60% for A, B, C,
or D, respectively.
For example, what would a student, with a current grade of 85%
(B), need to score on the final exam to keep a B?
The student would only need to score 60% on the Final Exam to keep a B.
