Several people turned in three 1S1P reports as part of the most recent 1S1P assignment.
Despite this clear violation of the rules (which stated you could turn in a total of two reports),
these students received half credit on their third report.
Students who did follow the rules, and who could have used a few extra 1S1P points, were effectively penalized.
With this injustice in mind, I am going to allow students who did not turn in three Assignment #3 reports
to write and turn in one additional 1S1P report.

As you might imagine there is a very wide range of climates found at different locations on the earth.  Waldimir Koppen was able to take all of this variety and identify 5 five major climate types or groups.  The groups are identified with capital letters: Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D, and Group E.  Koppen's Climatic Classification System is the topic of this last 1S1P report.

In your report you should first explain what types of climate or weather data Koppen used to determine which classification group was appropriate for a particular location or region.  You should in a sentence or two, and in your own words, describe each of the five major climate groups.  You should try to find an example region or a location in the United States that belongs in each of the climate groups.  Finally you should detemine which climate group Tucson belongs in.

I would suggest you first carefully read pps 360-361 in the text to familiarize yourself with the Koppen Classification system.  Then skim pps 362- 379 as needed to learn more about each of the individual groups.  You shouldn't need to spend much more than 1 hour to research and write your report.

If your report is written in your own words, is relatively free of spelling and grammatical errors, and is understandable, you will receive 8 pts.  Your report must be double spaced and fit onto one side of one page.

Your report is due on or before Thu., Dec. 6.  Dec. 6 is "dead day." If you don't turn in your report early in class, you will have to bring (don't email) a copy of your report to PAS 588.
