Topic #2 - Carbon Sequestration
You can earn up to 7 points for report content and up to 5 pts for
writing quality.
Content
You should probably begin your
report with a clear definition of carbon sequestration. Why is
there interest in carbon sequestration? What environmental
problem(s) might it solve? How is this topic related to material
that we have covered in class?
Then try to list and discuss or explain a few examples of processes
that have been proposed. Use the Table of Contents near the
beginning of the article as an outline. The article groups carbon
removal/storage processes into 3 main groups: Biological Processes,
Physical Processes, and Chemical Processes. In your report you
might select one or two specific examples from each group to discuss in
your report. Are there any detrimental side effects associated
with any of the removal/storage processes?
Writing Quality
This is not a particularly easy
article to read and understand. Find sections that you do
understand and try to explain the material clearly and in your own
words. Avoid quoting or paraphrasing text from the article.
Avoid generalites, try to include specific
details and examples from the article. The separate
sections or paragraphs of your paper should blend together into a well
organized and coherent report. Your report should be
nearly free of misspelled words and grammatical errors.
Miscellaneous
You do not need to cite the
Wikipedia reference. You only need to include citations if you
use something other than the Wikipedia article as a reference.
