"Closing
the Water Demand-Supply Gap in Arizona" Report Writing
Guidelines
This is the shorter of two Scientific Reports on water in Arizona. This report discusses current concern that Arizona might not be able to satisfy demands for water in the near future. This is, of course, not a problem just in Arizona, many other nearby states have many of the same concerns.
There is a lot of information in this
report, probably two many details for you to include everything
in your report. Your goal should be to pick and choose and
present an appropriate amount of information in a clear and
organized way. You want to briefly discuss all the main
parts of the water supply-demand problem. In my view the three main
aspects to the problem are:
1. Where does Arizona get most of its
renewable water (you might distinguish between renewable and
non-renewable sources or give an example of each)? How
important a source is the Colorado river? What other
sources are there?
2. How is water used in Arizona?
What demands for water need to be met?
3. What are some of the ways suggested
that will allow Arizona to meet future demand for water?
Here you might mention conservation (by citizens, cities,
industry, and agriculture), reuse of water (you've probably seen
the signs and purple pipe used for reclaimed water in Tucson,
which has one of the largest reclaimed water programs in the
state), desalination, and importation of water.
