Content
Here are some of the questions
you might try to answer or discuss in your report: What is a
Foucault's Pendulum? What is it supposed to
demonstrate. Would Foucault Pendulums at different
locations around the world behave differently (how long does the
pendulum take to complete a full rotation at the N. or S. Pole,
at the equator, in Paris)? Have you ever seen a Foucault
Pendulum. You might try to find an interesting video of a
Foucault Pendulum (if you do, please include the web address or
a citation). You do not need to worry about the
mathematical explanation in the middle of the Wikipedia article.
Writing Quality
Explain the material in your
own words - your report should be your understanding and
explanation of the material. Try to include specific
details and examples from the reading section. Try to
understand and explain, rather than just repeating, statements
such as "the plane of oscillation remains fixed relative to the
distant masses of the universe" and "taking one siderial day to
complete a rotation." It might help to imagine explaining
the topic to someone else that is unfamiliar with it. Your
report should be nearly free of misspelled words and grammatical
errors.
