Topic #6 The Rain Shadow Effect

You can earn up to 4 pts for report content and up to 4 pts for writing quality.

The content portion will be based on how accurate and complete your description of the rain shadow effect is.

To earn a high writing quality grade explain the material in your own words.  Avoid generalites, try to  should include specific details and examples from the reading section.  Your report should be well organized and the separate sections or paragraphs of your paper should blend together into one seamless coherent report.  Your report should be free or nearly free of misspelled words and grammatical errors. 

You can earn up to 6 additional points if you find a pair of cities that clearly show evidence of a rain shadow effect.  Try first to find a city located on the windward side of a large mountain range and the other on the leeward side.  Then try to find precipitation data that clearly demonstrates a rain shadow effect.  You'll find an extensive list of locations around the world at this site, though I would suggest you stick with the United States because it will be easier to find weather data.  Here is a good site to use to look for precipitation data for the US.
