Three songs from Eva Cassidy, a new discovery, before class today ("Fine and Mellow", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Take Me to the River").

The last day of classes but the first day of review for the Final Exam.

Not only that but an In-Class Optional Assignment as well.  The completeness of your answer to Question #10 on the assignment will determine how many extra credit points you receive (up to 0.5 pts)  The assignment could be turned in during class or you can turn it in during the review on Thursday afternoon.  I haven't decided for sure, but there may well be another Optional Assignment handed out during the review on Thursday afternoon.

The following figures are from today's review.  Some of the figures may differ from those drawn in class.  Mostly I just try to neaten them up a little bit.  The large numbers at the top left of each figure refer to sections on the Final Exam Study Outline.

Thinning of the ozone layer in the stratosphere is not the cause of climate change and global warming.  The small additional amount of UV light arriving at the ground will not cause global warming.  That UV light can cause skin cancer and cataracts, that sort of thing, but not global warming.

If you remind me, I'll write the ideal gas law equations down on the board so that you can refer to them during the exam.

Gravity pulls downward on parcels of air.  The fact that pressure pushing upward on the bottom of a balloon is a little stronger than the pressure higher up pushing down on the top of the balloon results in an upward pressure difference force.  The upward pressure difference force is the bouyant force mentioned in Archimedes law.
